Snacks, brownies, raita, cake…: How to make delicious apple dishes at home this season
Apples are among the world’s most popular fruits
By Beyniaz Edulji
Apples belong to the Rosaceae family of plants, like apricots, plums, cherries, peaches, pears, raspberries, and even almonds.
Nutrition
Most of us eat apples because they are delicious, but these fruits are also very good for our health. Apples are fat-free, saturated fat-free, sodium-free, cholesterol-free free and an excellent source of fiber. Apples contain pectin, which has been shown to aid digestion, and boron, which helps harden bones. Apples contain key nutrients, including fiber and antioxidants. They may offer health benefits, including lowering blood sugar levels and improving heart health.
Popular fruit
Apples are among the world’s most popular fruits. They grow on the apple tree (Malus domestica), originally from Central Asia. Apples are high in fiber, vitamin C, and various antioxidants. They are also very filling, considering their low-calorie count.
The apple is the ultimate symbol of temptation, as Eve tempted Adam with an apple. Apples are an important symbol in Greek mythology and are included in the stories of Zeus and Helen of Troy.
Varieties of apples
Whether it is the tart green Granny Smith, Gala, Red, or Golden Delicious, the varieties are as numerous as they are delicious in different ways.
