Hyderabad: Lowlight Sessions returns to Imli Sarai in Hyderabad on July 26, for an enchanting evening featuring a 3-hour ambient set by curator and famous artist Varun Desai.
From 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Desai will transform the serene venue into a sonic sanctuary, delivering an immersive experience of layered electronic soundscapes and organic melodies that invite introspection and calm.

Now in its third month, Lowlight Sessions continues to redefine Hyderabadās music scene with its focus on ambient and experimental sounds. Desai, a trailblazer in Indiaās ambient music movement, will present a performance that blends minimalist rhythms with emotive textures, showcasing his innovative approach to sound design.
The open-air setting of Imli Sarai, nestled among ancient tamarind trees in Banjara Hills, enhances the ethereal quality of Desaiās music, offering attendees a rare blend of nature and artistry. The event will also feature a code-based video-art work created by Desai for this occasion that will be on display on an 8-foot LED screen at the venue.

Imli Sarai, located in Banjara Hills, is a farm-to-table restaurant offering a serene dining experience under the canopy of ancient tamarind trees. Co-owned by chef Zain Rahimtula, trained at the International Culinary Centre in New York, and Rama Rahimtula, whose interior design expertise shapes its inviting ambiance, Imli Sarai specializes in modern European and Indian cuisine made with sustainable ingredients.
With open-air seating, misted air, and a warm aesthetic, itās an ideal venue for cultural events like Lowlight Sessions. Varun Desai is a pioneering artist and producer shaping Indiaās ambient music scene. Known for his emotive compositions and DIY synth creations, Desai crafts soundscapes that blend electronic minimalism with profound emotional resonance.
As the curator of Lowlight Sessions, he fosters a vibrant community for experimental music, pushing creative boundaries and inviting audiences to explore new sonic horizons.
Varun Desai is an artist and computer engineer working in the fields of synthesis and interactive design.He has been a teacher and lecturer for both hardware and software platforms as well as a graphic designer, coder, musician, and synthesizer builder. His video art projects use real-time code-based visualizations that make use of custom-built microphones, cameras, and sensors.
Varun has 17 years of experience working in arts and culture as a promoter, label manager, and producer. He has worked on projects in Germany, the UK, the USA, Poland, Turkey, Switzerland, Portugal, and Nepal. His company, Littlei, has been producing concerts and festivals in Kolkata since 2007 and has been responsible for developing new art and music traditions in the city.
As a musician, composer, and educator, he has been involved in trans-cultural projects and residencies and has created works that are responsive to the technological advances of the digital age.
Varun is the founder of Synthfarm, Indiaās leading residency for synthesis, modular sound, music production, and synth-making, and is the director of the Kolkata Jazzfest, one of India's longest-running music festivals.
Varun also publishes his work on the internet under the moniker Varundo. Varundo's 3D depth-map work has been going viral on Facebook and has gathered 750,000 followers.
He is also an officially supported GIF artist on Giphy and Tenor with over 50 million GIF views. Varundo was an early adopter of NFTs (non-fungible tokens), using the technology to create interactive and generative work while leading educational programs and digital exhibitions for artists across India.

In 2021, he presented his first solo show at Experimenter - Hindustan Road, which showcased 3 works driven by self-built hardware and software.
