He passed away in the jail premises on Tuesday due to a chronic ailment. However, nobody from his native state, Kerala, attended to receive his dead body due to the ongoing lockdown in the country. His funerals have to be performed by the civic body staff.
Tirumala Two Town police booked him in a cheating case six months ago. He was then arrested and sent to the Sub Jail in Tirupati. Admittedly, jail authorities had tried to shift him to the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital, Tirupati for treatment. But he died while he was being shifted to the hospital late on Tuesday. Jail authorities had immediately informed his family members in Kerala and they expressed inability to reach the temple city due to huge restrictions on movement.
Revenue and Police officials decided to conduct postmortem and completed the activity on video recording. Due to the absence of his family members, the civic body staff will go ahead with the riot proceedings.
