'Love guru', who performed havans for relationship patch-up, arrested
By Anurag Mallick Published on 29 Jan 2020 10:02 AM ISTMumbai: The Mumbai police have busted a self-professed 'love guru' who cheated youngsters of lakhs of rupees with the promising of solving their relationship problems.
Accused Nikhil, a resident of Jhotwara near Jaipur in Rajasthan, trapped lovelorn people through a website www.famousloveproblemsolutions.com between December 13-19 last year. He got in touch with his victims through social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.
The Vanrai police in Mumbai's Goregaon area said they began tracking Nikhil after receiving a complaint. He would first convince the victims of his 'abilities' to fix their problems. Then he would make them pay Rs 2,61,000 to an ICICI Bank account, they said.
A team from the police station used technical details and inputs from an informant living under the limits of Harmada police station in Jaipur to arrest Nikhil on January 21.
The police said the fraudster had managed to establish contacts with some people who had visited websites http:loveastropoonammishra.com and www.loveguruhopes.com and had run searches with word strings like 'mahavashikaran specialist baba ji'.
He operated bank accounts in the names of Santoshi Devi (ICICI bank ), Barkha (SBI) and another in Kotak Bank. Nikhil, who is in custody, has been booked under Sections 420, 34 of the IPC and Section 66(c), 66(d) of the IT Act.
The case was investigated by API Ghone, sub-inspector Rajshree Patil, ASI Vijay Bhosle with the guidance of Additional CP Dilip Sawant, DCP Dr Swami, Subhash Jadhav, who is the ACP of Dindoshi Division and inspector Rani Puri (Crime).
