Man arrested for raping, impregnating 19 YO niece in Vizag

Visakhapatnam : Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly raping and impregnating 19-year-old niece at the Marikavalasa area in Vizag city.
The incident came into light after doctors during a routine check-up found that the girl was pregnant. The incident took place at the Marikavalasa area under PM Palem police station limits in Vizag city.
The victim along with her parents later lodged a police complaint against the accused on Thursday night.
Inspector of PM Palem police station A Ravi Kumar said that the girl is a native of Vijayawada city of Krishna district and she had come to her maternal aunt's house in Vizag city last August. Later she stayed at her face for some months.
However, a few weeks back the girl was taken to the hospital after she complained of stomach pain. The doctors informed the parents that she was pregnant.
On questioning, the victim narrated that her aunt's husband P Vasu allegedly raped her when she was alone at home. The accused even threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under section 376 of IPC and arrested the accused.
Condemning the heinous crime, the leaders and activists of various Women's organizations demanded stringent punishment against the accused.
