Man dumps mother’s body on Banjara Hills footpath fearing COVID
By Ashish Bhosale Published on 31 Aug 2020 11:25 AM ISTHyderabad: Humanity was shamed again after a man abandoned a 70-year mother's body on a footpath fearing COVID at Banjara hills, Road no 2 on Sunday.
Police said Ramesh, who works as a watchman in a nearby apartment at Banjara Hills had abandoned his mother's body as he was not having enough money for the funeral and was scared that she would have died of COVID.

The woman was suffering from fever for the past few days, Ramesh was also afraid that he would be removed from the apartment if the residents come to know about his mother's death.
"The man brought his mother's body on his shoulder in broad daylight and abandoned it on the footpath. Surprisingly nobody noticed, though it happened around 1:30 pm. We reached the spot at 2:00 pm after we received information from a passerby. Primary investigation suggests that the woman died due to ill health as no injuries were found on her body. We suspect that she could have been a COVID patient. The post-mortem report is awaited. We will take action, if necessary, once we receive the report ", said G Vasavi, sub-inspector, Banjara Hills Police station.
Earlier, police had said that the woman was frequently seen sitting near a mosque near TV 9, office Banjara Hills. Pedestrians and passersby were frightened on seeing the body wrapped in a cloth on the main road.
