The First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court in Hyderabad, that deals with POCSO cases, has also slapped a fine of Rs. 2,000.
In July 2017, the victim came home from school and sometime later went out to play. When hours passed and she did not return home, the girl's mother went out in search of her. She was searching the area around their residence when she heard a noise coming from behind a closed door below their apartment. When she opened the door, she saw that her daughter was being sexually assaulted by Harichander.
On seeing the girl's mother, the accused tried to run away, but the mother, with the help of some neighbours, caught him and locked him up. The victim's mother, who is the complainant in the case, registered a complaint under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, at Mangalhat police station in Hyderabad.
