Narsingi woman turns out to be ` super spreader’, infects 11
By Newsmeter Network Published on 25 May 2020 5:56 AM GMTHyderabad: A young woman has turned out to be COVID 19 spreader after she infected 11 members of her family at Narsingi on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Hailing from Narsingi, the woman had gone to her maternal home in Dhoolpet to attend her elder brother’s engagement ceremony a few days ago.
After she returned home, she was tested positive for Covid-19. Later her 18-month old son, her husband, mother in law and sister in law were also tested positive. Around 15 persons from the family, close relatives, and neighbors were shifted to a quarantine facility.
On Saturday, six more persons tested positive for the virus. Their village Alijapur has now been declared a containment zone.
According to sources, the woman's maternal home is in Jummerat Bazar in the Dhoolpet area.
The engagement ceremony was held on May 10 and all the family members residing in the multi-storied building attended. A few other relatives from other parts of the city also attended the function.
After the ceremony, one of the family members was tested positive and the area was declared a containment zone.
The woman’s father in his early 60’s who had co-morbid conditions of liver damage due to alcoholism passed away a day after the engagement ceremony.
With around 15 cases from a family, this makes one of the biggest in the state in the recent times. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old woman who was a primary contact tested positive.
