Kerala: 40 injured after fireworks during football match go horribly wrong
Malappuram: A fireworks accident during the final of a local football tournament in Therattammal, Areekode, Kerala, left around 40 people including children injured.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Tuesday when fireworks, set off without permission, lost direction, and fell into the crowd, causing minor burns and injuries.
The mishap took place as spectators gathered in large numbers to watch the final match between United F.C. Nellikut and K.M.G. Mavoor. Sparks from a firecracker, identified by the police as a Chinese-made firework, scattered into the audience, burning several people standing near the field. Despite the chaos, none of the injuries were reported to be serious.
The injured were immediately rushed to nearby private hospitals, where they received treatment. The Areekode police have registered a case against the tournamentās organizing committee for conducting a fireworks display without the necessary permissions.
