No new COVID-19 case in North Andhra in last six days

Visakhapatnam: Amid the gloom, there is good news. Visakhapatnam seems to be flattening the curve as it has not recorded any COVID case in the last six days.

Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts are yet to report any positive cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.

This comes at a time when coronavirus cases have surged to 439 in Andhra Pradesh

In Vizag, out of the 20 cases, four were discharged, after testing negative in two successive tests. The other 16 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the city. The results of 100 samples are awaited.

Visakhapatnam District Administration is taking all the necessary measures to contain the spread of the deadly virus. The urban and rural surveillance teams, under the supervision of doctors and medical staff, are identifying people with symptoms in the containment zones. The samples drawn from the suspects are being tested regularly.

To prevent the coronavirus spread in Vizag, Municipal Corporation has been organizing extensive disinfection drive across the city. Authorities are using GPS technology to monitor the sanitation across the district. Command Control Centre is keeping a tab on the movement of people and coordinate with the other stakeholders.

Police too are making good use of the technology to ensure a strict lockdown in Vizag. Police are using mobile apps to track people under quarantine. City Police are using drones to keep a tab on the movement of people and identify the lockdown violators.
