Notorious Ghuman gang in Rachakonda Police net
By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Dec 2019 3:20 PM GMTHyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an interstate gang known as Ghuman gang. LB Nagar’s Special Operations Team and Central Crime station, besides Hayatnagar police, arrested seven members and seized properties worth Rs 6.55 lakh.
According to the police, the gang members are nomads who migrated from Bangladesh decades ago. They move from state to state and sell blankets and toys. In the last two years, they have stayed in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. They are currently staying in Akola of Maharashtra.
The gang travel to different places and identify isolated locations. They stay in the bushes near such sites until night when they break into loot them. The name Cheddi gang originated from their modus operandi, where they would remove their clothes as the bushes may tear it.
The gang first reached Hyderabad in January 2019 and returned to Maharashtra after their crime spree. They returned to the city in October and November. On November 20, they committed the Kuntloor burglary in Hayatnagar. They are also involved in six similar cases in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.
The police arrested six people from Hayatnagar in a joint operation. They caught the last accused from LB Nagar metro station along with the stolen valuables. The cops recovered 150 grammes of gold, 400 grammes of silver, four mobile phones, two knives, and Rs 3,000. The police charged them against Section 397 (robbery or dacoity), 395(punishment for dacoity) and 457(housebreaking) of IPC.
SOT LB Nagar T Ravi Kumar led the operation, alongside CCS Inspector A Ramulu, and Inspector Satish and Deputy Inspector B Nagarjuna of Hayatnagar.
