NTA clears rumors regarding postponement of NEET, says exams will be held on 26 July
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Jun 2020 6:25 PM ISTHyderabad: After a fake advisory claiming that NEET-UG 2020 had been postponed to August had created confusion among candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA), on 17 June, announced that no decision has been taken to postpone the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) and exams will be held on 26 July as scheduled.
āIt has come to the notice of the National Testing Agency (NTA) that a fake public notice dated 15 June 2020 with the subject line - Postponement of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG July 2020 - is being circulated through various sources and social media forums. The NTA has taken it seriously and is investigating the source of such a fake notice with an intent to misguide candidates, parents, and the general public. Stringent action would be taken against such anti-public elements,ā the agency said.
The Central Governmentās Press Information Bureau (PIB) had also issued a similar clarification.
The NTA advised people to be aware of such fake messages and asked them to rely only on information available on its official websites www.nta.ac.in and ntaneet.nic.in. The NTA's latest official communication dated 11 May 2020 in this regard is available on the NTA website https://data.nta.ac.in/Download/Notice/Notice 20200511063520.pdf.
NEET is held for undergraduate admissions to medical and allied courses across India.
