Panic grips Secunderabad railway station after bomb hoax

Hyderabad: Panic gripped the Secunderabad railway station when a miscreant called up Gopalapuram police station informing them that a bomb has been planted in the facility.

Police said at around 9.30 pm on Sunday, an unidentified person called up Gopalapuram police station informing that a bomb has been planted in the Secunderabad railway station and it would go off at 12.30 am.

The information was immediately passed on to the Railway Police, Railway Protection Force and other wings of Telangana police.

Immediately teams from Hyderabad City Police, Railway Police, Railway Protection force, City Task Force, dog squads, bomb disposal squads and intelligence wings rushed to the spot and launched combing and sanitizing operation.

Panic gripped the passengers when security forces started checking their luggage.

No suspicious material was found in the railway station, however. Later it was concluded that there was no bomb in the railway station. A case has been registered against the caller.

This is for the second time when security forces were sent into a tizzy by a miscreant this month. On February 6, a caller informed the police that a bomb was planted in the air conditioned compartment of Vijayawada bound Intercity Express, but it turned out to be a hoax.
