Priyamani replaces Keerthi Suresh in ‘Maidaan’

After making her presence felt in the Amazon web series ‘The Family Man’ alongside Manoj Bajpayee, the National award-winning actress has now replaced Keerthy Suresh in Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Maidaan’. As per a statement, Keerthy who was all set for her debut in Bollywood reportedly shot for a day for the film and felt that she looked too young to portray the role of a mother as required for the film.
Apparently, Keerthy also lost a lot of weight after signing the film, and even the makers also felt she would not suit the character and roped in Priyamani for the role. Both Keerthy and the makers have mutually decided to part ways from being part of the film.
‘Maidaan’ is a sports drama based on legendary Indian football coach and manager, Syed Abdul Rahim, the Hyderabadi responsible for the golden era of Indian football between 1952 and 1962. Priyamani will play Syed Rahim’s wife. The movie is directed by Amit Sharma who shot to fame with Ayushmann Khurrana’s. ‘Badhaai Ho’. The movie also has Gajraj Rao in a prominent role.
The movie, jointly produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor, is slated to release on November 27. The actress with over 50 films in various languages in her kitty has earlier performed a foot-tapping dance number in the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’.
On the future front, she will also be seen essaying the role of ‘Sasikala’ in the Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Thalaivi’, a biopic based on former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa. In addition, she is also paired up opposite Venkatesh in the Telugu remake of ‘Asuran’.
