According to the police, the prime accused and kingpin of the prostitution racket, Anjali, was earlier involved in several human trafficking offences in the limits of Rachakonda and Cyberabad commissionerates. To avoid the cops, she had chosen a different modus operandi.
Anjali was working with another prime accused Devi of Vijayawada and two associates - Rayapuri Vamshi Reddy and Chinna. The gang had rented a place at Balkampet in Hyderabad city. They procured girls from West Bengal through their agents by promising them jobs and brought them to Hyderabad.
Later, they uploaded their photos on social media along with phone numbers to lure customers through WhatsApp and other online channels. They collected Rs. 10,000 from a customer but only paid Rs. 1,500 to 2,000 to the victims.
Acting on a tip-off, the special operation team and the Keesara police laid a trap for Rayapuri Vamshi Reddy. They arrested him on 28 July and remanded him in judicial custody.
