Anakapalle DSP transferred for using ganja smuggler’s car for personal use
The car was seized in July 2022 after ganja peddlers sped away and it was taken to Anakapalle rural police station.

It may be recalled that DSP Sunil was caught using a seized car and the incident came to light when the car in which he was travelling along with his family met with an accident in Vizag Beach road. Later, it came to light that the number plate of the seized car had been changed. Videos of the DSP driving the car had gone viral on social media. However, no case was registered then as no complaint was lodged about the accident.
The car was seized in July 2022 after ganja peddlers sped away and it was taken to Anakapalle rural police station. The DSP had sought a car from his subordinate to go to Vizag city to meet one of his family members who was undergoing treatment. The police personnel had arranged for a car that was seized in the cannabis case.
The Anakapalle police chief, Gowthami Sali, ordered a probe by an additional SP rank officer into the episode. The report was sent to the DGP office, and DSP Sunil was transferred. Senior police officer Malla Mahesh was appointed as DSP (in-charge) in his place.
