Kurnool accident: 14 died, 4 injured in truck-min van collision

At least 14 people have been killed, and four children suffered severe injuries in a major road accident near Madapuram in Veldurthi Mandal of Kurnool district in the wee hours on Sunday.

Kurnool: At least 14 people have been killed, and four children suffered severe injuries in a major road accident near Madapuram in Veldurthi Mandal of Kurnool district in the wee hours on Sunday.

A speeding truck hit a mini van coming in the opposite direction, leaving 14 dead on the spot. Among the deceased, eight women, five men and a child. The deceased were on a pilgrimage to Ajmer from Madanapalle in Chittoor district.

The police said that over-speeding was the reason for the ghastly road crash.

The locals rushed to the spot and rescued four children in the incident. At the time of the incident, there were 18 people on the bus.Some dead bodies were crushed in the accident. The injured children were shifted to the local hospital for treatment.



A case has been registered, and the dead bodies will be shifted to the mortuary for postmortem.

It may be recalled that four people died on the spot and over 20 people suffered injuries when a tourist bus from Telangana plunged into a gorge on Araku ghat road in Vizag Agency on Friday night.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has conveyed his condolences to the family members of the victims and wished speedy recovery of the injured.
The Chief Minister instructed the concerned officials to take expedite relief and medical help.
Also, The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident at Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "The road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district is saddening. In this hour of sadness, my thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. I hope that the injured recover at the earliest."
