In a first MANUU launches digital initiatives; Education bulletins every Saturday

Hyderabad: Pedagogy has gone hi-tech at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) with the varsity making a big plunge into the digital world. On the eve of the Azad Day celebrations, the university launched four big digital initiatives - an E-content platform, Urdu Nama, Shaheen-e-Urdu and educational news bulletin.

All these programmes are in tune with the New Educational Policy 2020 and fulfil the University's mandate to provide content in Urdu. And in the process MANUU has proved everyone wrong that with Urdu as medium of instruction nothing can be done. MANUU's Instructional Media Centre (IMC) takes credit for setting new benchmarks in the education sector through these endeavours.

Launching the digital initiatives on Wednesday, MANUU vice chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, said the idea behind these programmes was to take Urdu to the nook and corner of the country. This apart, the digital initiatives would add value to learning in mother tongue. "We have some more programmes to link Urdu with modern technology", Prof. Hasan said.

The E-platform is unique in that all the subjects taught at the University are now available in the Urdu language. There is an added advantage of having text, video and references on a variety of topics. Students and teachers can view and download the content freely. Through Urdu Nama, an audio-visual series, it is proposed to bring to the masses the rich cultural heritage of Urdu and its diverse flavours. Works of noted poets, fiction writers, critics, chroniclers and artists who have made valuable contributions to Urdu language, literature and its culture would be highlighted on the social media platform of the IMC and MANUU. Also one Urdu word and details about a poet/writer would be shared on a daily basis, said Rizwan Ahmed, IMC Director.

The other initiative, Shaheen-e-Urdu, is aimed at promoting education in Urdu. Young talents associated with Urdu language and culture will be encouraged through this platform. This programme again is in tune with the NEP guidelines which advocates education in mother tongue.

For the first time MANUU has taken a unique initiative of introducing an educational news bulletin. No other university has such a programme. To start with every Saturday a five minute bulletin will bring all the educational news from India and abroad. All these programmes can be seen on the YouTube channel of MANUU.
