Hyd is best Megacity, say citizens; ranked 23rd cleanest city in India

The Government of India announced the result of Swachh Survekshan 2020, the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey of the country.
Whilst Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) bagged the Best Megacity Award in 'citizen feedback' category.
Indore is India’s cleanest city in Swachh Survekshan 2020. Surat in Gujarat is in the second spot and Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai on the third. Indore ranked first for the fourth time.
Among to the two telugu speaking states, Vijayawada ranked sixth in Swachh Survekshan while Tirupati 12th in the overall ranking. In the above 10 lakh population category, Vijaywada ranked 4th and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation ranked 9th. In under 10 lakh population Tirupati ranked 6th.
Rajahmundry ranked 51st, Ongole 57th, Kakinada 58th, Karimnagar 72nd, Kadapa 76th, Tenali 75th, Chittoor 81st, Hindupur 93rd, Tadipatri 99th and Nizamabad 133rd.
According to the survey, Best performing states in terms of overall performance were divided into two categories- states with over 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and state with less than 100 ULBs. In the first category, Chhattisgarh bagged the award for the second time while Andhra Pradesh bagged the sixth position and Jharkhand won the award in the second category while Telangana bagged 8th position.
Within 28 days, 4,242 cities has been covered in the survey. Documents of more than 5 lakh urban local bodies have been prepared and more than 24 lakhs geotagged photos were captured from the field. Over 1.9 crore citizens’ feedback has been collected in the survey.
