'Sufiyum Sujatayum’: Aditi Rao Hydari returns to Malayalam films
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Jun 2020 9:08 AM GMTHyderabad: After 13 years, Aditi Rao Hydari is making a comeback in Malayalam Film Industry.Rao's comeback film 'Sufiyum Sujatayum’ is set to be released on Amazon Prime on July 2 The movie is directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas and produced by Vijay Babu under the banner of 'Friday Film House’.
She will be playing the character of Sujatha in the movie which also stars Jayasurya. The premise of the drama is a Sufi a Sufi priest's demise, whose former lover Sujatha and her husband fly out of Dubai to attend his last rites.
Vijay Babu and Jayasurya have revealed that the film is all set to stream on an OTT platform without hitting the theatres first. Amazon prime owns the streaming rights of this romantic thriller. This will mark Aditi's return to Malayalam Film Industry after 13 years.
But the film exhibitors in Kerala are not happy with the filmmakers for releasing the movie on the OTT platform. They are planning to ban actors, directors, and producers for skipping theatrical release.
"Survival is important now. We invest our hard-earned money. But now, we don’t know when and how a film is going to reach theatres. Even after cinemas open, we do not know when our turn will come for the release since the list is long,” said Vijay, producer of the movie
Movie director Naranipuzha Shanavas said OTT platforms seem to be the best option available for filmmakers for now. “Sufiyum Sujathayum deserved a big-screen experience. However, I am sure that the film will connect with the audience,” he said.
OTT platforms are the new medium explored by the filmmakers given the pandemic and restriction on the assembly of people. Fans are thrilled and looking forward to seeing their favorite stars on OTT platforms.
