Telangana COVID-19 death toll crosses 700 mark, drop in testing
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Aug 2020 4:00 AM GMTHyderabad: The COVID-19 death toll in Telangana crossed 700 after it reported ten new deaths on August 16 taking the total tally to 703.
Telangana reported 894 new COVID cases on Sunday taking the overall tally to 92,225 in the state.
The fatality rate in the state is 0.76 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.93 per cent.
Around 2,006 citizens recovered from the infection on Sunday taking the tally of total recoveries to 70,132. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 76.01 per cent, which is approximately per cent higher than the national average of 71.91 per cent.
The state currently has 21,420 active cases.
The government tested 8,794 citizens for the virus on Sunday. So far 7, 53,349 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 20,291.
Of the total cases, 14,404 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 17.2 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.1 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 17,804 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,650 isolation beds, 4,674 oxygen beds, and 1,480 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals
