Telangana govt fixes Rs 2,800 per test at home, Rs 2200 at pvt labs

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has given its nod to ICMR approved private labs and authorised hospitals to conduct COVID-19 tests and treat patients in the state. However, the government has fixed a price card.

Individuals approaching private labs or hospitals will have to shell out Rs 2,200 per test. While those requesting ā€˜test at home’, will be charged Rs 2,800 per patient.

The government fixed prices do not include a large number of medical services provided. It is pertinent to mention that patients will have to pay extra for services not included in the package.

The government order also specified that patients who are asymptomatic or having mild symptoms do not need hospitalization and are recommended home isolation. Patients can be admitted to COVID care centers if their houses are not suitable for home isolation.

1. The private hospitals shall display the above rates at prominent places in their premises. Also it is the duty of the hospital to explain the patient/relatives about charges for various services.

2. Data on tests conducted should be updates on real time bases on www.chfw.telangana.gov.in.

3. As and when a COVID positive case is detected, the case details have to be entered into the portal by the private labs to enable immediate tracing of contacts.

The revised cap on COVID-19 treatment charges was announced by the Telangana health minister Eatela Rajender on June 15. According to health officials, around 250 COVID19 patients are getting treated in 10-12 private hospitals in the state, as of now.

At present, Telangana has 17 ICMR-approved private hospitals for conducting COVID-19 tests, apart from 10 government centres. The private hospitals are:
