Telangana has third-highest recovery rate of COVID patients in India
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 July 2020 7:51 AM GMTHyderabad: Data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) on Wednesday revealed that Telangana has the third-highest recovery rate of COVID patients in the country.
Telangana’s recovery rate is 78.37%. It ranks below Delhi (84.8%) and Ladakh (84.3%).
The national recovery rate is approximately 63%.
The World Health Organisation states that the average time period from onset to clinical recovery for mild cases of the novel coronavirus is approximately 2 weeks. For those with severe symptoms, the recovery rate ranges from 3 to 6 weeks. Recovery rate is defined as the percentage of patients who have completely recovered from the disease and do not show any further symptoms, and hence can resume regular activities.
"The consistently increasing number of the recovered person and the growing difference between the active and recovered patients are a testimony that the strategies adopted by the Centre and implemented by the State/ UT governments are bearing desired outcomes," reads the MOHFW statement.
The ministry said that Centers of Excellence in COVID care, such as the Gandhi Hospital in Telangana, have worked closely with All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, to reduce the fatality rates.
As per the bulletin released by Telangana health department on 22nd July, recovered cases in the state stand at 37,666. The total number of cases in the state is 49,259.
On 22nd July, of the 15,882 collected samples, 1,554 had tested positive for the virus.
