Tipsy man booked for sleeping on bike in middle of road at Madhapur

Hyderabad: A tipsy man was found asleep on his bike in the middle of the road at Madhapur in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

He was identified as Satyanarayana a resident of Ellammabanda who works as an office boy. He was coming from ICICI bank Gachibowli but he stopped near IKEA underpass due to intoxication condition and parked Honda Activa in the middle of the road. Cyberabad traffic police even observed his dance moves through CCTV footage and alerted Madhapur police.

Madhapur Traffic police reached the spot and checked the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of the man. His BAC reading was 334 mg/ 100 ml of blood. Drunken driving and driving without documents case was booked against him. His vehicle has been taken into safe custody.

"Booking of every drunken drive case is the prevention of a potential road accident. Cyberabad Traffic Command and Control Centre observes in CCTV a man sleeping on his bike on mid-road and alerts Madhapur Traffic Police," tweeted Cyberabad Traffic Police.



Cyberabad Traffic Police DCP Vijay Kumar said people have lost fear of law since the COVID pandemic broke out. ā€œThey are resorting to reckless driving, leading to a lot of road accidents. They should exhibit self-discipline and responsibility," he said.

Kumar said police are doing drunken driving checks on a need basis as of now to contain the spread of COVID-19. ā€œRoad accidents have increased as we are not able to conduct DD checks freely given COVID-19. But we have our plans to control drunken driving," he said.
