Pilgrimage turns into tragedy: 18 Ayyappa devotees from AP injured in Kerala road mishap

Guntur: Around 18 Ayyappa devotees, including a child, were severely injured after their vehicle overturned near Laha in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala on Saturday. The incident happened when around 84 Ayyappa devotees were travelling from Madepalli of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh to Sabarimala in two buses. One of the buses, carrying 44 devotees, was in a road accident. Among the injured, four, including the child, are in serious condition at the hospital.

The injured are being treated at Kottayam Medical College Hospital and the rest were provided food and accommodation by the Pathanamthitta district officials.

Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy has inquired about the condition of the injured devotees returning home and directed the officials to provide medical aid. He asked the officials to coordinate with the Pathanamthitta district officials and provide medical treatment to the injured and extend all possible help.
