Tirumala: A virtual simulation of the sacred Tirumala's Sri Venkateswara Temple, developed as a gaming application on the Roblox platform, has triggered widespread outrage among devotees, prompting swift action from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
`TTD Original Temple’ claims to offer an immersive online experience of the Tirumala temple. However, it has drawn criticism for allegedly trivializing religious sentiments and raising security concerns.

Virtual experience draws sharp criticism
Developed by a user based in Tamil Nadu, the app is available on platforms such as the Play Store and allows users to navigate a digital version of the temple. It features detailed recreations of the Vaikuntam Queue Complex, temple interiors, and even the sanctum sanctorum, which many believe should remain untouched and sacred.
The app’s simulation has been denounced by devotees, who view it as a disrespectful commercialization of faith. The backlash intensified after a video tutorial demonstrating how to use the app to virtually access the deity went viral. The video is currently under review by the TTD’s vigilance wing.

Jana Sena leader lodges formal complaint
Jana Sena Party leader Kiran Royal submitted a formal complaint to TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, urging the board to take immediate action against the developers. He described the app as “an insult to the sentiments of millions of devotees” and accused the creators of exploiting religious faith for potential financial gain, including the solicitation of donations in foreign currency.
TTD intiaties inquiry, warns of legal consequences
TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu confirmed that the board had received multiple complaints and ordered a thorough investigation. He stated that any digital content that misuses the temple’s sacred imagery for entertainment or profit will face legal scrutiny.

“We will not allow the holy visuals of Tirumala to be misused under any circumstances,” he said, asserting that stern legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
Devotees demand accountability
The incident has sparked strong reactions across social media and religious circles, with calls for the immediate removal of the app and punitive action against its creators.
Many devotees expressed concern over the growing trend of converting sacred religious experiences into digital games for commercial purposes.
Chairman Naidu reassured the public that TTD remains committed to upholding the sanctity of the temple. “Any attempt to distort or commercialize the Tirumala experience will be met with the strictest response,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing, and TTD has requested the cooperation of digital platforms in removing the offending content.
