Tortured by pilot husband, techie kills herself in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 31-year-old techie, who was allegedly being harassed and tortured by her husband, committed suicide at her residence in Shamshabad here on 25 June.
M. Lavanya and her husband Venkatesham, a pilot at TruJet, were from Andhra Pradesh and were living at Rallaguda in Shamshabad for around a year, the police said. The RGI airport police have registered a case against the husband and started an investigation.
The couple married a few years ago but have no children. Venkatesh often blamed his wife for not giving him a child and harassed her about it. He was also allegedly having affairs with other women. Lavanya got to know of it and questioned him. He allegedly assaulted her then.
The police said, their initial inquiries revealed that the torture had become frequent and unable to bear it, Lavanya had taken the extreme step. Meanwhile, Venkatesh has been taken in for questioning.
