TRS MLA Ramalinga Reddy passes away
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 Aug 2020 4:03 AM GMTHyderabad: Three-time TRS MLA from Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy passed away at AIG Hospital, Gachibowli, in the wee hours of Thursday. He was 57.
He had undergone surgery twenty days ago at a private hospital in Kompally. However, the surgery was unsuccessful.
His condition deteriorated a week ago and he was admitted to AIG hospital. He was put on the life support ventilator, but could not survive.
Ramalinga Reddy was a journalist before entering politics. A three-time MLA, he was first elected from Dubbak assembly constituency in 2004. He later won two consecutive terms in 2014 and 2018.
Ramalinga Reddyās body has been shifted to his native Chittapur village for the last rites.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed deep shock over the death of MLA Solipet Ramachandra Reddy. The CM recalled his association with Ramachandra Reddy as a fellow activist hailing from his native region. The CM conveyed his heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family. The CM prayed to God to keep the departed soul rest in peace
Ramalinga Reddy is the second lawmaker to have passed away in the last three days. Earlier, former CPIM MLA Sunnam Rajaiah succumbed to Covid-19 on Tuesday.
A three-time MLA from Bhadrachalam district, he had won elections in 1999, 2004, and 2014, on the ticket of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He had tested positive for Covid-19 last week and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Vijayawada.
It was reported that his sons also tested positive for the virus. The MLA was a member of the Girijana Sangham, which worked for the protection of tribal rights.
