Vijayawada corona positive patient asks for support in selfie video
By Anurag Mallick Published on 22 March 2020 8:10 AM GMTVijayawada: As the coronavirus outbreak in the nation has now crossed 300, with 21 positive cases in Telangana and 5 cases in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh reported 2 new positive cases on Saturday, one from Vijayawada and one from East Godavari.
The 23-year-old youngster from Vijayawada city of Krishna district, a few days ago was tested positive. The people in contact with the youngster, namely his parents were also sent to the isolation ward in a government hospital of Vijayawada.
The 23-year-old positive patient from Vijayawada on Sunday made a selfie video where he appealed to all the people to support him in the tough times and also to support his family and not trouble them in this phase. Recording the video, he said, " I'm the student who has come from Paris. I had landed in Delhi on March 16th at 9 am. They held a a screening at Delhi where no symptoms were found in me. Following this, they sanctioned me to board the next connecting flight. I had boarded a flight to Hyderabad on March 17th at 10 am and reached Hyderabad at 12:00 am. I had traveled alone from Hyderabad in a private cab to Vijayawada. It took me 6 hours to reach Vijaywada as I reached home at 6 pm. The Municipal Vigilance team then told me to quarantine for 14 days and stay at home. I respected their orders and stayed home. I didn't even move from my house.
They had also asked me to intimate them if at all I had any symptoms later on during the quarantine period. The next day, I had told them that I was a little feverish and got tested as a responsible citizen. The test results came out to be positive. I'm under medication now. I request all of you to support me and not to drain me and my family emotionally. Kindly support me and I wish to recover soon and be a motivation to many people out there. " he said.
Amidst this, the officials of the medical and health department have been on the job to find out the contact persons of the patients. The officials also launched a sanitation drive in few places of Vijayawada and Rajamundry. The officials said that a total of 142 samples were tested until now out of which 130 tested negative and 5 tested positive. The results of 7 more people are pending.
