Anantapur: Taking cue probably from a video that emerged from Tamil Nadu and went viral during the initial days of the outbreak of Coronavirus in India, the Anantapur police, with the support of the medical and health department personnel, have begun forcibly making people not following the Covid-19 norms, like wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing, board special vehicles to shift them to quarantine centres.

As part of measures to check the increasing number of positive Covid-19 cases, the police were found to be whisking away those violating the norms in special vehicles even when they were pleading to be excused for this time and promising not to repeat the same. The violators had no option but to plead relentlessly to be let off as they were caught unawares by the police.

People witnessing the forcible shifting by the police and pleading by the violators were in splits as it reminded them of the viral video and it was like the people in front of them were enacting the same.

The scenes in Anantapur were captured on mobile phones by onlookers and they too are making the audience erupt in laughter after going viral on social media.

On Friday, the police, along with the medical and health department personnel, carried out surprise raids at a few places in Anantapur and shifted the violators to quarantine centres.

On Thursday, Anantapur witnessed a surge in the Covid-19 cases with 67 being recorded within 24 hours, taking the case load to 647 in the district.

Following the directions of Anantapur police, a campaign team created awareness about Coronavirus among the people at busy market places in the city this morning. The team, comprising police personnel, medical and health officials, explained about the various measures to be taken to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
