After quarrel with wife, man hacks his 4YO daughter to death in Telangana

Telangana: Police have detained a mentally challenged farmer for allegedly killing his four-year-old daughter in Sangareddy district of Telangana, on Friday.

Identified as Jeevan, he allegedly slit his younger daughter Avantika’s throat and made up a story that unidentified persons committed the crime.

Preliminary investigation revealed that he took the step after an altercation with his wife Renuka. Police, however, are probing if he had taken the step due to the financial crisis due to prolonged lockdown.

Sangareddy district police said Ramavath Renuka and Jeevan got married around nine years ago and the couple has three children, Sravanti, Avantika and Charan. They were making living from farming.

For the past few months, Jeevan had slipped into depression and was not in a condition to work, forcing Renuka to take up the burden of her husband and children. Moreover, he used to regularly fight with his wife over petty issues and even abused her physically and mentally.

On Thursday night, he picked up a fight with Renuka and it continued till midnight. After the quarrel, his wife went to sleep, along with their children.

Jeevan picked up a kitchen knife and slit his younger daughter’s throat. Further, when Renuka questioned him, he informed that some unidentified persons killed their daughter and fled away.

A murder case has been registered against him at Pulkal police station and he was detained for questioning.
