Seasonal ingredients, comfort flavours define Hyderabad’s Salt Indian Restaurant winter menu

Hyderabad: If winter dining for you means food that feels comforting without being heavy, Salt Indian Restaurant’s winter menu is worth planning a meal around.

Available across outlets till January 5, the limited-time menu focuses on seasonal ingredients, slow-cooked flavours and dishes that suit long, unhurried meal, making it a solid choice for festive catch-ups and end-of-year dinners.

Start here: Winter starters worth ordering

Begin with the Paneer Anjeer Tikka, a smart choice if you enjoy sweet-savoury contrasts. The fig paste adds texture and mild sweetness, while the toasted paneer and torched cheese keep it balanced.

The Roasted Broccoli with Peanut Thecha and Malai is a strong vegetarian pick. Creamy, mildly spicy and indulgent enough for winter, it’s one of those dishes that converts even reluctant broccoli eaters.

For non-vegetarians, order at least one of the following:

• Truffle Murgh Tikka for a richer, more refined take on malai tikka

• Bhatti da Murgh if you prefer smoky, rustic flavours with a squeeze of lemon on top

Seasonal picks that feel made for winter

One dish that stands out on the winter menu is the Kala Gajar and Chukunder Galaoti.

Soft, mildly sweet and spiced just enough, it uses carrots and beetroot, both winter staples and is served on saffron roti with ricotta and nutmeg. It’s a good choice if you’re looking for something comforting yet different.

Seafood lovers should consider the Kerala Fish Fingers with Raw Mango Aioli, crisp on the outside and soft inside, paired with masala fries. The Prawn Miriyalu, tossed with gongura pickle masala, onions and bell peppers, delivers a sharper, more robust flavour profile.

Mains to build the meal around

For vegetarians, the Gobi Mussallam is a reliable main, whole cauliflower florets in a saffron-cashew gravy that feels rich without overwhelming the palate.

Among meat dishes, the Mutton Champaran is a winter essential. Slow-cooked, spicy and sealed in an earthen pot, it’s best enjoyed with simple accompaniments. The Paya Khorma with Parotta works well if you’re looking for something milder yet satisfying.

If you’re in the mood for something different, the Masaledaar Pardha Duck Biryani is worth ordering, aromatic, warming and balanced, with tender duck meat.

End on a light note

Finish with the Saffron Pistachio Bhapa Doi with Vanilla Ice Cream. It’s creamy, not overly sweet, and a fitting end to a winter-forward meal.

Why it works

Salt’s Winter Menu succeeds because it doesn’t overcomplicate seasonal dining. The dishes are familiar but thoughtfully adapted for colder weather, making the menu ideal for festive meals, family dinners, or relaxed evenings out.
