Passengers escape unhurt as two cars catch fire in collision on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway

Hyderabad: As many as six passengers travelling in two cars narrowly escaped, when their cars met with a head-on collision and caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway on Tuesday. The incident happened on the outskirts of Madhavaram village of Munagala Mandal in Suryapet.
Narender hailing from Kodad town in Suryapet was on his way to Hyderabad along with his family. They were passing Madhavaram, when the other car, travelling in the opposite lane towards Vijayawada, rammed into the median. The car then jumped into the other lane and crashed into Narender's car.

After the collision, when passengers were trying to move out of their vehicles, a fire broke out. Even before the fire could spread, the passengers rushed to safety. Meanwhile, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Police have registered a case and started a probe to know the cause of the fire.
